VHeadline commentarist Carlos Herrera writes: US attorney, Eva Golinger, has been investigating the role of US interventionism into Venezuelan internal affairs for several years. With unswerving determination, she has managed to prise formerly classified documents from the vaults of the State Department and CIA under the “Freedom of Information Act” originally passed under the second Nixon Administration.
The documents obtained by Golinger prove beyond any shadow of a reasonable doubt that the US is financing subversive groups in Venezuela under the guise of promoting democracy, when the real aim is to overthrow the democratically-elected government of President Chavez.
The front organizations are well known to people interested in following events in Venezuela, and these are specifically the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Golinger’s work entitled “The Adaptable US Intervention Machine in Venezuela” is clear in its methodology ... it provides a background so as to contextualize the US intervention strategy using Chile and Nicaragua as its models, and also serves the English-speaking reader with some contemporary historical data on recent key events in Venezuela - such as the coup d’etat in April 2002 and the oil industry and economic sabotage of December 2002February 2003.
Recently, Golinger herself has become the target of “hate Venezuela websites” since she is proving to be a problem for these traitors ... as more and more evidence of US funding of these opposition groups comes to light.
The problem for the Venezuelan opposition ... which has received funding from the US, either via NED or USAID ... is that this is illegal under Venezuelan law and the recipients will be facing long prison sentences. Hence, the media offensive against her and her US-based organization, in a vain effort to discredit her investigations.
This document is a “must read” for all who are interested not only in Venezuela, but also in how the US conspires against democratically elected governments who are not tame acolytes of the hegemonic objectives of any Administration and the interests of the global corporate empire.
Finally, on behalf of the “pueblo venezolano,” I, Carlos Herrera, congratulate Eva Golinger on this patriotic work she is carrying out to defend the only true democracy in the western hemisphere ... if not the world.
