America's Election
The date is still quite far away,
Election time in U.S.A.
Yet months and even years before,
Potential candidates galore,
They line up pleading for your vote,
And spew out the lines they've learned by rote.
They promise all things good and well.
I'm on your side and I won't sell
you out, like others often do.
Because I'm honest, fair and true.
I'm for the common man, he says,
I'll give you healthcare when I'm Prez.
He looks to be a man of wealth,
A silver tongue, and looking stealth.
He doesn't wear a Walmart suit,
Nor are his shoes the type you put
on when you go to work,
He's upper class; you're just a clerk.
Financed by the rich and big corporations,
Who pay to ensure more privatizations,
Reducing your wages and benefits too
So their profits will rise, your concerns are taboo.
For they pay the piper and thus call the tunes
Leaving you as the succor who fell for these buffoons.
The Great Divide, they all agree,
is between the Democrats and the GOP.
But check them out and you will find
They all represent the elite and their kind.
Ensuring no working man will get elected,
So the power remains with them, well protected.
Well, this is democracy, they declare.
But they make the money while you pay the fare.
When it's time for elections you are their best friend,
But all is forgotten, once in control of the land.
So it's time for a change in the structure of power,
When the people rise up, comes the finest hour.
For the Great Divide, you understand,
Lies between the classes in the land
Between those who own and those who labour,
You need not go, and beg for their favour,
For once you take their power away
Real democracy rules, the People's way.
